PMT Zone Sensor

|
PMT’s new Zone Sensor is designed for installation on vehicles with stepwells
where Treadle Switches cannot be employed, or non-contact sensing is otherwise
required. With Zone Sensors as the input devices for PMT's Automatic
Passenger Counting (APC) System, our proven finite-state algorithm
yeilds reliable, accurate passenger counts.
Features

Diffuse-Reflective Active IR Technology
-
Optical Design Virtually Eliminates Maintenance
-
Field-Alignment for Virtually any Doorway Offers Easy Installation in Most
Vehicle Types

Based on Design of PMT's Proven Infrared Transceivers
The Zone Sensor concept was developed in response to requests for non-contact
sensing, but with similar characteristics to PMT's Treadle Switch based
Automatic Passenger Counting System. The Zone Sensor is intended for applications
where the use of Treadle Switches is impractical or undesirable. The Zone
Sensors can also be used as Treadle Switch replacements where Treadle Switches
are already installed.
Typically, 2 Zone Sensors are mounted above each vehicle stepwell.
The exact number of Zone Sensors and their placement depends on stepwell
configuration.
The Zone Sensor employs diffuse-reflective near-infrared sensing. The
design is based on PMT's proven Infrared Transceiver technology, and optimized
for passenger detection. The simple optical design has no moving parts
for high reliability. Overall accuracy of an APC system using Zone Sensors
should be 90 to 95%.
