The PMT Automatic Passenger Counting (APC) System is your solution for the collection of accurate passenger data, providing crucial feedback for transit planners.

System Features

  • Treadle Switch inputs for up to 4 doors, 2 passenger streams per door 
  • Vehicle location through serial interface to GPS receiver, RF signpost receiver, or optical signpost receiver
  • Expansion Capability for high speed communications, IBIS, SAE J1708, etc. 
  • Maintains realtime clock with 2 second resolution 
  • PCU maintains odometer count with 1 m resolution 
  • Stores passenger information for each stop in Stop Record format as follows: 
    • Passenger ON and OFF count for each door 
    • Stop Arrival and Departure time 
    • Stop Dwell time 
    • Odometer count
  • Stores other vehicle records as follows: 
    • Entry & Exit times, with odometer count, for each

    • uniquely numbered signpost transmitter (SPT) 
    • Engine on & off times, with odometer count 
    • System shutdown & restart times 
    • Date rollover 
    • Error & diagnostic events 
  • Records are stored in battery backed-up CMOS RAM 
  • approximately 1 week of passenger counting data (up to 1 month optional)

    • Vehicle & system ID numbers 
    • Time delays to adapt system to different boarding and disembarking patterns. 
    • Mapping for different bus door sizes and counting functions.
